't Kuipke (the little bowl) holds a special spot in the world of track cycling. It does its name justice as the track is just 166 metres long rather than the standard 250 metres. Because of this, the bankings in the corners are really steep and the closeness to the track makes for an intimate atmosphere. This is a sell-out event where people come back year after year for the great experience. Booze, the smell of hotdogs, the live music and the loud local support make this a fantastic night out. The Ghent Six day is the Tour de France of track cycling, it’s unlike any other race. As a rider in Belgium you feel that people understand the race. Anyone who comes to watch also understands what’s happening,” he said.
